A FUNDRAISING wine tasting night is being held to raise crucial cash for the arts.

Dorchester Arts is inviting people to test their wine knowledge and tickle their taste buds at a wine tasting with a difference.

Call My Wine Bluff will be held from 7pm on Saturday, December 6 at Brownsword Hall, Poundbury and is loosely based on the popular TV panel game, Would I Lie to You?

The panel will consist of four highly knowledgeable Masters of Wine, who will lead the evening of blind tasting a broad selection of wines, donated by Waitrose, Dorchester. Each panellist will have very plausible explanations about the wine you will taste, but only one will be correct.

You get to decide who’s telling the truth!

The Masters of Wine on the panel are four of only 312 Masters of Wine in the world.

Established wine consultant and Poundbury resident, Colin Anderson will lead this very experienced panel.

Fellow Masters of Wine David Burns, John Clevely and Joe Naughty, will be joining him.

Colin said: “This is a very senior panel. All are past chairmen of the Wine Institute, and easily total more than 200 years’ experience between them.

“It is all down to real knowledge, and with knowledge comes the ability to present hogwash as truth!”

Mark Andre, department manager at Waitrose Dorchester, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting Dorchester Arts with Call My Wine Bluff.

“Waitrose has a great tradition of offering a well-priced selection of exciting wines, and we ensure that customers receive good advice by employing a trained wine specialist in store.”

Karen Malim, Dorchester Arts’ fundraising and development officer, said: “It’s going to be a hugely entertaining evening and a superb way to launch our fundraising events programme in this, our 30th anniversary year.”

Each ticket is £15 and includes six wines to taste followed by a glass of wine and canapés. The evening will also include a raffle and a mystery wine.
