A FABULOUS fundraising knees-up will be held at the Lyric Theatre in Bridport on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The Barrack Street theatre’s Winter Warmer welcomes one and all to its festive ding-dong.

It will feature wacky and wonderful Bath-based trio The Wahoos, Bridport’s very own seven-piece Sometimes & Forever Band, and also a spot of stand-up comedy from the Lyric’s own Niki McCretton.

Powered by a frantic and seemingly freewheeling instrumental virtuosity, grounded in the musical comedy of vaudeville, the Wahoos are a trio of madcap musicians sure to hit the spot.

This happy band was formed out of a love of the novelty musical variety acts of the 1930s and 40s.

Featuring washboard, horns, clarinet, tenor guitar and vocals, The Wahoos are a surefire hit with audiences everywhere.

Be delighted and entertained with their riotous mix of vintage comedy songs, hillbilly jazz and midwestern swing numbers sweetly played on unique instruments.

Featuring many familiar Bridport faces, The Sometimes & Forever Band bring you songs of love, life, death and tigers made with harmonies, harps, keys, fiddles, strings, shakers and a gong – with seven of them sharing the stage.

Tickets are £10 in advance from Bridport Arts Centre on 01308 424204 or see bridport-arts.com

They are also available from the Lyric Box Office, or £12 on the door from 7.30pm on the night of the show.
