A play for football fans and theatre lovers alike, The Giants is coming to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on January 30.
This production from Somerset’s Wassail Theatre features two highly skilled actors playing around 12 characters.
Warren is no ordinary football fan. Sure, he’s supported his local team since he was a young lad and has green and white blood pumping through his veins.
But now he’s stepping off the terraces and following in the footsteps of his idol, Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson.
Gary has taken the Glovers from non-league to The Championship, with trips to Wembley and plenty of goals along the way. Now Warren is planning on bringing a touch of that Yeovil glory to his own team of under-12s.
With fitness regimes, tactics boards, specialised diets and positive mental attitudes, Warren and his merry band of school kids have their sights set firmly on the Premier League, but first there’s the small matter of conquering the Somerset Schools’ Cup to worry about.
The Giants is directed by Tim Bell, co-artistic director of Shanty Theatre Company and The Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis.
