LYME REGIS: Theatre lovers will be whisked off on an epic adventure into unknown territories of entertainment at the Marine Theatre.

Miracle Theatre will present Dr Livingstone, I Presume? on Saturday, January 31 – with a show packed full of comedy and melodrama, not to mention some high-kicking can-can.

The production tells the tale of the great explorer and his travels to the heart of Africa in search of the River Nile – all told from an unusual, and highly entertaining perspective.

The story is told through songs, ballet, ventriloquism and comedy – which is as fraught with danger and catastrophe as any expedition into the heart of Africa.

The show starring Ben Dyson, Ciaran Clark, Holly Cassidy and Giles King is a revival of Miracle’s 1997 hit, and is written by Bill Scott and Steve Clarke.

“Dr Livingstone, I Presume? proved a huge hit with audiences first time round in 1997,” said Bill.

“This refurbished version, with its fantastic cast of comic and musical talent, promises to sparkle with even greater charm.

The exquisite set of authentic music-hall costumes, designed by Alan and Jude Munden, show off why

Miracle performances have gained a reputation for producing winter treats.

The production is a celebration of courage and endurance and a swipe at the 19th century ideals of imperialism, chauvinism and hypocrisy.

The shows starts at 7.30pm. For more information, call the Lyme Regis TIC on 01297 442138.
