ODEON Dorchester will screen special performances of William Shakespeare's plays in tribute to the bard.

The cinema in Brewery Square Dorchester will show Titus Andronicus and Julius Caesar in April as part of its Globe on Screen season to celebrate the playwright's birthday.

The performances will start with a screening of Titus on April 9, with Julius Caesar being screened on Thursday, April 30.

General manager Alan Escott said: “Shakespeare is the most popular dramatist and poet the Western world has ever produced. Despite almost 400 years passing since his death, he’s still considered one of the best writers of all time.

"At the Odeon we regularly screen a variety of cultural performances.”

Shakespeare is one of few in history whose birthday and death day is the same – April 23. He’s renowned for his plays, tragedies, comedies and histories.
