FIGURATIVE artist Susan R Hughes is opening her studio as part of Artwey’s biannual Open Studios event.

Starting this May, from Saturday 23 until Sunday June 7, a number of Weymouth and Portland artists will be taking part.

Susan is noted for her contemporary figurative artwork, all taken from life.

A large range of paintings and drawings will be on show to the public in her studio/gallery over the two weeks of this event.

Susan is also exhibiting at the home of Thomas Hardy at Max Gate in Dorchester as a part of a two-year project exploring the life of one of the countries most important writers and poets.

This second exhibition explores the later Hardy’s relationship with his first wife Emma Gifford.

Susan also runs Weymouth Life Drawing Group and teaches portrait and drawing skills locally.
