Lyme Regis Busking Festival to return this weekend

Organisers hope to bring the town alive with music on Saturday, with members of B Sharp helping to organise this year's event.

Buskers will take to the streets, while organised events will take place across the town on Saturday, between 11am and 9pm.

Pete Wild, co-organiser of the festival, said: "This year, B Sharp young musicians will be helping to run the various festival spaces themselves.

"We have expanded our team of helpers and B Sharp young musicians will be there to show people the way, and to chat to anyone who would like to know more about the important charity work they are doing in the area and how you can get involved.

"This year's Busking Festival coincides with the Jazz and Blues Festival, so between us we will be bringing the whole town alive with music."

The first organised workshop will take place at 12pm with an event led by Magic Drum Orchestra leaders Glyn Bush and Ralph Cree at The Hub.

The 'Play Me Piano' will return at the Marine Parade from 11am, with open mic spots for soloists and bands available.

"The piano is the place where magic happens" added Mr Wild.

"People really take you by surprise, open up and share their music with the public."

Singer Deborah Jordan and music producer and DJ Simon Skolfield will feature at the Jam and Beats session in the Lister Rooms between 2pm and 9pm. Professional guest musicians will work with B Sharp young musicians to provide an upbeat, groove-based session incorporating decks, drums, keys, vocals and anything else that turns up.

The Busking Festival is aimed at anyone who plays, sings and is interested in music. The event is accessible for any level of experience and style, musicians of all ages from the very young to the very old - who are encouraged to just go along and play.
