ONE of Jools Holland's favourite bands will take to the stage in Lyme Regis tomorrow (19).

The Ben Waters Rock and Roll Piano Band will perform at the Marine Theatre, having played for royalty and at Hugh Lawrie's birthday party.

Ben was also hand picked to perform at Jools Holland's wedding, and has gained recognition across the globe for his unique and original version of rock and roll.

The performer had a remarkable apprenticeship, having worked and recorded with many of the legends from the great rock and roll generation. Ben was worked with The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Shakin' Stevens and Ray Davies.

With his band, Ben has toured across the globe including gigs in Canada, Scandinavia and the United States.

Ben recorded his album, Boogie for Stu, at Jools Holland's studio – a commemorative album in honour of the late Ian Stewart, family friend and founder of The Rolling Stones, all of whom, along with Jools and Bridport native PJ Harvey featured on the album. It has topped blues and rock and roll charts world-wide since going on sale, with proceeds from sales and Ben’s advance going to the British Heart Foundation in Stu’s memory.

The band will play rock and roll, blues and boogie numbers from this and other albums, along with ground breaking original numbers which attract world-wide interest.

The heart of the band is a six piece consisting of Ben on piano and vocals, drummer and vocalist Ady Milward, bass player, vocalist and lyricist Richard Hymas along with saxaphone players Chris Rand and Adam Davey. Ben’s thirteen year old son, Tom, who has been amazing audiences all over the world.

The band sometimes swells to twelve or more, with some of the best musicians in the UK joining Ben on tour to venues in the UK and abroad.

The performance starts at 8pm. For more information, please call 01297 442138.
