AN EVENING of Mozart Opera will be performed live in Dorchester.

The Swansea City Opera is performing Mozartissimo at the Dorchester Corn Exchange on Saturday July 11.

More than 200 years after his death, Mozart’s star still shines and remains the most prolific Austrian composer of all time with around 600 works to his name.

Taking the guise of Emanuel Schikaneder, Mozart’s lifelong friend, Brendan Wheatley wittily charts Mozart’s fascinating life in this new show Mozartissimo.

Be transported back to an 18th century salon featuring elaborate classical costumes worn by top quality performers who will take you on an operatic journey through the life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Especially arranged for wind trio, soprano and baritone the programme includes arias and duets not only from Mozart’s famous works, such as The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, but also from some of his lesser known operas.

Swansea City Opera is the culmination of the 35-year long career in opera by its Artistic Directors, Brendan Wheatley and Bridgett Gill, both professional singers.

This evening of fine performances and fascinating insights is the perfect accessible bite-size opera for the less seasoned operatic but equally as enthralling for the more avid opera-goer.
