FLAGS at the ready as last Night of the Proms comes to Weymouth.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is returning to the resort for the patriotic occasion at Weymouth Pavilion on Thursday July 23.

It will celebrate the best of classical music and all the patriotic favourites including; Pomp & Circumstances March No.1, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and the Fantasia on British Sea Songs.

Whether you prefer Borodin’s Russian Dances, the tranquillity of Mozart, or enjoy the mystery of Elgar’s Enigma Variations, the Last Night of the BSO Proms has something for everyone.

There will be music to tap along to, music to move you, and of course the traditional selection of Proms choices.

Originally composed for performance at the coronation of King Edward VIII in 1937 and performed as a recessional piece at the recent wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton; Walton’s Crown Imperial March will be performed on this auspicious occasion as one of the most popular of Walton’s orchestral compositions.

Another firm favourite of the night; Elgar’s Enigma was composed of fourteen variations, each being a musical sketch of someone who was close to him, was commenced in humour, but is said to have continued in deep solemnity.

Frank Zielhorst, Young Conductor in Association with the BSO, performs a key role and an important part of the work in helping to develop new generations of artistic talent

This is guaranteed to be an evening full of delights as works by these master composers are enjoyed once again.

Get ready for some fervent flag-waving, a good sing-along and an evening of fantastic live music with family and friends, played by the full forces of the BSO!
