JANE Austen's classic tale will be performed on Bridport's Millennium Green next month.

The pages of Pride and Prejudice will be brought to life by the Chapterhouse Theatre Company on Saturday August 29.

Take a step back in time to meet Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Austen's most loveable heroine. When Elizabeth meets the rude and abrupt Mr Darcy, she loathes him at first sight.

But is there more to him than meets the eye?

Join family and friends for a splendid summer evening as you picnic under a beautiful summer sky and lose yourself in this unforgettable love story.

After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

Over the years Chapterhouse has performed Pride and Prejudice to thousands of delighted theatre-goers.

Scriptwriter Laura Turner said: “Pride and Prejudice is such an enduring classic that it's wonderful to see it return again this summer.

"For me, this most famous of Jane Austen's novels couldn't be better suited for a summer's evening entertainment in a beautiful country garden setting.”

Director Rebecca Gadsby said:“I am delighted to return to Pride and Prejudice this summer, which will be my fifth time of directing this adaptation.

"It is a personal favourite of mine; it was the first period drama I ever read and I've been hooked ever since.

"Once again, we will study the airs, graces and rules of courtship of this period to bring you an accurate portrayal of romance in the 19th century.

"Add in your own picnics, warm summer's evening and a few stars and you have the ideal accompaniment for this beautiful story.”
