CULTURE in every capacity will brighten up Dorchester today.

The One World Festival in the county town's Borough Gardens takes place between 11am and 6pm today.

Dorchester Mayor Robin Potter will open the festival today at 10.50am and there will be an African Dance workshop held at 11am.

At 12.15pm and 2.15pm there will be African Drumming Workshops, while at 1.30pm there will be an introduction to classical Indian Music.

At 1.30pm top chef Andy Chu will host a cook off competition between the Mayor and Mayoress.

At 4.15pm there will be a procession from the young peoples's world mask making workshop from Rainbow Arts.

The family friendly event will also feature Dubheart, named the best reggae band in Europe, Ricky Romain and Bo Chomenko.

There will be a tug of war in the afternoon seeing Gurkhas competing against local teams.

Mouths will be watering at the global food village and music and dance from Nepal, Africa, India and Poland will feature.

Entertainment on offer includes a bouncy castle, a sports action van and a kids area.

There will be many marquees so people can enjoy the festival whatever the weather.
