AN AUTHOR who has published a book about his father's war time experiences will be signing copies in Swanage on October 17.

Richard Isaac, an Oxfam volunteer, has published Behind Enemy Lines about his father's war time experiences as one of Wingates Chindits in Burma in 1944.

Richard will be at the Oxfam book shop in Swanage on Institute Road signing copies between 10am and 5pm.

He said: "In 1943 my father was fighting in Burma on the Arakan Front.

"He was later sent away to India because he caught malaria.

"After recovering , he won an athletics meeting in India and was selected for Wingates Chindits.

"They were flown in 200 hundred miles behind enemy lines. The Chindits were a special force formed by General Orde Wingate for fighting guerrilla tactics against the Japanese army in the jungles of Burma."

£1.99 from the sale of each book goes to Oxfam
