FREE CHRISTMAS MUSIC AND SONGS AT THE TOWN HALL

A COMMUNITY orchestra will hold a free festive concert in Bridport tomorrow night.

The West Dorset Community Orchestra will host the event at Bridport Town Hall on Friday, December 11 starting at 7.30 pm.

A group of singers from The New Elizabethan Singers will also be featured in the concert. There will be a raffle and refreshments available.

Conductor Walter Brewster said: “Our orchestra was set up to encourage local people of all abilities to play in a fun environment.

"We perform two concerts a year at local venues and for this concert we’re pleased to be joined by the New Elizabethan Singers.”

West Dorset Community Orchestra is based in Bridport and plays mainly classical and light music pieces. This concert will include Scott Joplin’s The Entertainer as well as works by Bizet and Beethoven. There will be traditional carols and popular seasonal favourites including Winter Wonderland and Have yourselves a merry little Christmas.

Pat Crawford of the New Elizabethan Singers said: “Some of our choir have formed a small group to feature at the concert and to support the communal carol singing.

"It should be a great evening for instruments and voices.”
