FEBRUARY half-term is fast approaching and there's some romping entertainment on offer to keep youngsters amused.

Freya - a Viking Saga comes to Nether Compton on Wednesday February 17 and Sturminster Marshall on February 18.

It tells the story of Freya, a Viking girl and friend of the gods who is in a bit of a pickle - she’s about to become a giant’s dinner and must use all her wits to escape old Gorm's cooking pot!

This half-term the much loved Angel Heart Theatre and Rattlebox are romping back in to Dorset to bring the vicious rivalry between the Norse gods and the Frost Giants humorously to life.

In this colourful re-telling of two famous Viking myths and Freya’s own saga, Angel Heart and Rattlebox invite you to go 'a-roving' together through the Viking world.

Expect brilliant music and wonderful handmade puppets in this delightful family show full of boisterous gods, dunderheaded giants and the music of the fjords.

Children can also join a Viking Weapons 'n' Warfare workshop before the show.

Using an impressive array of reconstructed clothing, armour, weapons and props, including a few genuine Viking artifacts that are over a thousand years old, learn how the Vikings fought and what weapons they used in battle!

Then take part in a Viking shield wall, using a fabulous array of realistic looking foam-latex weapons, shields and helmets to get a ‘hands-on’ experience of what it felt to be in Viking battle formation.

Workshop spaces are limited so enquire when booking.

The performance on February 17 is at Nether Compton Village Hall at 4pm. Call 01935 413220 for tickets.

On February 18 Freya - A Viking Saga comes to Sturminster Marshall Memorial Hall at 1.30pm. Call 01202 650213 for tickets.
