DORSET Chamber Orchestra will be performing their final concert of the season on May 14 at St Mary's Church in Dorchester.

The concert will open with two of Dvorak’s Legends, Op.59.

Originally written for piano duet, each has different orchestration and No.9 in D major leads into Brahms’ Violin Concerto Op 77.

The two composers were contemporaries and good friends, Brahms dedicated the concerto to another friend, Joachim - who gave the first performance in 1879.

Its formidable technical demands are well known, but no barrier for the orchestra's soloist, Frida Backman.

Having trained in her native Finland and in London, Frida continued her post graduate studies with, among others, Robert Jacoby, a notable teacher and mentor.

A former member of the Backman Trio, Frida has toured the UK for over 6 years performing concerto pieces.
