ONE of the world’s most accomplished vocal ensembles, Stile Antico have been announced to perform for Purbeck Art Weeks Festival, running from May 28 to June 12.

Renowned for their expressive and vibrant sounds from the Renaissance, the 12 members of the group will perform alongside community groups and schools celebrating the arts in Purbeck.

The theme for the festival this year is 'Midsummer Dreams', marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

A 'Midsummer Dreams' themed shop and business window display competition is taking place in Swanage, Wareham and Corfe as part of the festivities.

Purbeck Art Weeks organisers are opening the celebration with the BBC South bus and Radio Solent on the seafront in Swanage.

Purbeck artists will be opening up their studios for the festival in beautiful and unusual locations.

Rollington Barn near Corfe Castle will be hosting the festival’s collective exhibition.

Audiences will be able to view work from all 100 artists and local schools workshops - as well as view new local artistic talent.

The festival is presenting an exciting events programme of concerts and talks held in churches, community venues and country houses in Purbeck.

Acclaimed international group Cuatro Puntos with Helen Ostafew and friends are set to perform while Fieri Consort is also ready to return to the coast.

A range of illustrated talks and other events is being offered by local experts, including the colourful history of Dunshay Manor, Purbeck and folk songs and readings by Dorset Words takes Wing.
