A JAZZ duo inspired by the scenery of Scotland are bringing their soulful sounds to Dorchester for an intimate show this week.

Ian Millar, on saxophone, and Dominic Spencer, on piano, have been performing together for years – creating melodic and rhythmic music and original compositions.

Based in Edinburgh, the duo enjoy performing in intimate and rural settings, and will be jazzing up Charlton Down village hall, in Charlton Town near Dorchester, on Sunday May 8.

The beautiful Scottish scenery has inspired Ian’s songs for Jazz in the Village.

Ian said: “Our experience of playing in halls up and down the country has been amazing and the acoustics in most of the halls are superb, creating truly inspirational settings for some wonderful evenings.”

Dominic said: “We have been very successful at transforming the village halls into an intimate cabaret style jazz club setting with low lighting and candles on the tables.

“We have many fond memories of wonderful evenings in halls where the reception we have received has been fantastic.”

They have had enormous success over six years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where their successful show Jazz at Lunchtime on the Royal Mile has entertained thousands of people.

n Enjoy Jazz in the Village at Charlton Down village hall, Charlton Down, near Dorchester on May 8 at 8pm.
