A COSMOPOLITAN trio is set to perform in Bridport as part of the Concerts in the West series.

Trio Isimsiz will play in a Coffee Concert at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday June 24.

For a group of musicians with a name that means 'no name' in Turkish, Trio Isimsiz have actually made quite a name for themselves.

The three members of Trio Isimsiz hail from diverse geographical origins. Erdem Misirlioglu is a British born (Suffolk to be exact) pianist, cellist Michael Petrov comes from Bulgaria, while violinist Pablo Hernan Benedi was born in Madrid.

The Trio was formed in 2009 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and just four years later they were talent spotted by the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT), who offer professional guidance to gifted young musicians. The following year, in 2015, Trio Isimsiz won first prize and the Audience Prize in the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition.

Since then they have gone on to undertake residencies in Canada and Austria and attended the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove in Cornwall. Concert highlights include: Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Purcell Room, Colston Hall and Brighton Dome. Future engagements include the Stavanger Festival, Tivoli Concert Hall, Madrid and Argentina.

Catherine Hodgson, Concerts in the West's founder and director said: "Whether performing together as a trio or individually, one thing is for sure, these are all superb and highly successful musicians in their own right. Erdem was a Concerto Finalist in the BBC Young Musician Competition in 2008, while Michael represented the UK in the European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star series, and Pablo is a member of the brilliant Chiaroscuro Quartet. To watch them perform as Trio Isimsiz is going to be absolutely thrilling, as their ability to bring out the best in Schubert and Haydn is really quite exceptional. The three concerts promise to be unmissable performances!"
