AS half-term comes to an end, there are still plenty of last hurrahs to be had in the area this weekend.

*ENJOY the Best of Dorset at the Ocean Room in Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

This annual leisure show offers information and inspiration about days out and activities, complemented by free entertainment in the Pavilion Theatre.

*Catch the sight of more than 50 vintage vehicles at the Riviera Hotel in Weymouth from 2.30pm on Sunday.

The vintage motors will be at the hotel after a 70 mile ride on the roads of 'Wessex' for the Hardy Country Classic Tour.

Members of the public can enjoy a barbecue and use of the outdoor pool at the hotel and there will be a raffle at 4.15pm to raise money for Weldmar.

*WEYMOUTH Operatic Society's production of Anything Goes continues tonight and tomorrow with two performances.

All aboard for this saucy production set on an ocean liner.

Performances are at 7.30pm and Saturday's matinee is at 2.30pm. Contact the box office for tickets.

*JOIN in some of the special events being held in Dorchester for Thomas Hardy's Birthday Weekend.

The activities include a walk around Dorchester based on Hardy's fictional locations from 10am meeting at the Town Pump in Cornhill to a performance outside County Hall by the New Hardy Players at 5pm.

On Sunday at 10am there will be a service at St Michael's Church, Stinsford, followed by a wreath-laying at Hardy's grave.

*TAKE a trip out to Sturminster Newton for its Big Weekend.

Tomorrow there will be a Producers' Market in Station Road from 10am to 4pm. You can also enjoys crafts at the Exchange from 10am to 4pm.

Bring a picnic and join in the fun with The Big Lunch at Railway Gardens on Sunday from 12pm to 3pm. The evening activity will be the Exchange Real Ale Festival tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

*The magical setting of Milton Abbey will provide the ideal venue for a concert to be given by two Dorset choirs tomorrow at 7.30pm.

The Occasional Singers and Lyme Bay Chorale with organist Alex Davies will be presenting two masterpieces from the English repertoire: the Mass in G minor by Vaughan Williams while Vox Dicentis by Edward Naylor is a rich and dramatic setting of a vivid Old Testament text.

Members of the audience are welcome to start the evening with a picnic in the delightful abbey grounds
