There's no stopping the summer events as we hope for some better weather this weekend.

Whatever the weather, there's always the emergency poncho to call upon.

*IT'S fiesta time in the county town this weekend.

Dorchester Carnival begins tonight in the Borough Gardens from 6pm featuring the traditional four legged pub race.

There will be a host of activities for all ages in the gardens as well as plenty of refreshments and music from the likes of The Leggomen, Elijah Wolf and The Mighty Sasquatch.

The fun continues tomorrow with a street fair with the Anonymous Travelling Market throughout the day with the main procession beginning at 5.30pm, leaving from the market car park. See dorchestercarnival.org for details on the carnival's route.

*THERE'S plenty of reflection to be had in Weymouth and Portland this weekend with Armed Forces and Veterans Celebrations.

Tomorrow, you can watch a military beach assault at 12pm on Weymouth beach along with bridge building at the pavilion end of the beach.

On Sunday there will be a seafront parade with more than 1,000 veterans, five marching bands, a historic military vehicle static display a tea dance and more.

At 11am there will be an open air service at the Cenotaph along the Esplanade. There will also be a vehicle convoy and display and free afternoon band performances on the forecourt.

*GO in search of everything delicious in the Bridport area with the Bridport Food Festival

Head to Askers Meadows, Bridport, tomorrow between 9.30am and 5pm to enjoy cookery demonstrations and numerous producers' stalls. There will also be a Festival Tea Tent where you can enjoy a cream tea. There will be fun for all the family in the children's marquee.

*ENJOY some music on the seafront with entertainment from The Silhouettes in Greenhill Gardens, Weymouth, from 2pm.

The Friends of Greenhill Gardens invite you to join this free event, where a selection of popular foot-tapping songs will be performed.

*SOAK up a small and intimate festival on the outskirts of Weymouth.

Chesil Rocks takes place at Higher Farmhouse, Langton Herring, and features a variety of music, comedy, theatre and storytelling from Dorset and beyond performing on three stages from 11am until midnight.

*CORSCOMBE Fest is back tomorrow bigger and better this year. It kicks off tomorrow at 1pm and runs until 6pm.

Held at Corscombe Court, there will be a variety of stalls. Tickets are available at the door for £2 and there is plenty of free parking.

The Devil's Chair Concert begins at 6pm with music from Julie Dunn. The evening ends with cover band Storm but not before Corscombe has been rocked by Kash Folding and The Antics. See corscombe-fest.org for full details.

*THE Dorset Midsummer Music and Food Festival is being tomorrow held at Bulbarrow, just north east of Dorchester.

Gates will open at midday and the action continues until 11pm.

Headlining will be Lionstar who are a band based in the South West who offer a blend of reggae/rock/world fusion.
