A SUMMER fundraiser to raise money for a Weymouth church is set to crown a new Rose Queen.

Expert gardener Ruth Hayes of Amateur Gardening magazine is the special guest for the event in the grounds of St Edmund's Church, Lanehouse Rocks Road, Weymouth, on Saturday July 9 and will crown the queen and open the event at 1pm.

Among the many attractions and sideshows are the Wessex Wings, the Honda Goldwings, a children's obstacle course, barbecue, refreshments, and stalls including a jewellery stall, fresh plants, a bottle tombola, cakes and face painting.

Among the entertainment will be Juno belly dancers, the Dorset for Singing choir led by Ed Hintze and the resident Amberlights Majorettes.

There will be a special appearance from the Peppa Pig mascot during the afternoon.

This will give children the opportunity to meet Peppa have a photo taken with the popular character.

There will also be a Peppa Pig poster competition, for two age groups, those between 0 and four and those between four and eight

The poster should be brought along to the event and Ruth Hayes will judge the best poster in each age group, after which prizes will be awarded.
