A PLAY described as a cross between high farce and a comedy of manners will be performed outdoors in Weymouth on Saturday June 25.

Noël Coward's Hayfever will be performed at the Nothe Fort, Weymouth.

There will also be two performances on the play next month in Poundbury.

The play is set in an English country house in the 1920s and deals with the four eccentric members of the Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend.

It will be performed by the Wessex Actors Company, which was founded by Jo Puttick with the initial aim of producing performances each summer in the open air; performed to a professional standard, principally in Dorset.

The intention is to give first class theatre as entertainment, whilst also enhancing audiences’ understanding and perception of the play being enjoyed.

Actors will be experienced, local and professional, rather than being brought in from ‘outside’, as the company believes there is so much local talent that deserves to be showcased.

For tickets and more information see the website nothefort.org.uk
