Enjoy something traditional or discover something new this weekend.

Whether it's comedy in Lyme Regis or the splendour of heavy horses in north Dorset, there's plenty to enjoy out and about in the area.

1. THE Durnovaria Silver Band will perform in the Borough Gardens, Dorchester, on Sunday at 2.30pm.

Entry is free and the session is supported by Dorchester Town Council.

2. DISCOVER the secret lives of plants at Lorton Meadows Conservation Centre, Weymouth, on Sunday at 10.30am.

3. A LOCAL craft and producers' market is being held at Brownsword Hall, Poundbury, tomorrow from 10.30am to 4pm.

The event will be showcasing food and craft artisans in the area. This ranges from rare breed products, homemade jams & chutneys, artists, jewellery, hand knitted items and more.

Entry is free. Profits from this event will be going to Hangers Heroes, a charity based in Weymouth that raises funds awareness of small local charities.

4. TAKE part in a fun run in Bridport to raise money for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Weldmar's Superhero Fun Run leaves Bridport Football Club at 11am on Sunday.

The registration fee covers all expenses involved in administering your place as well as refreshments during the event and an heroic medal when you cross the finish line! Participants are welcome to walk, jog, run or indeed fly at a speed that is comfortable for them.

5. A HEAVY horse show and country fayre will be held at the Turnpike Showground, Motcombe, north Dorset, on Sunday.

The Wessex Heavy Horse Show and Country Fayre is more than just a horse show and features vintage vehicles, stationary engines, a fun dog show, plus children's activities, a medieval encampment, wagon rides and the always-popular pudding competition.

It takes place from 9am to 4pm. Tickets are available on the gate.

6. CAMP comedy with a 21st century twist comes to Lyme Regis tomorrow.

Tom Allen and Suzi Ruffell: Hit the Road! is at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, from 8pm.

Suzi returns to the road with her third show ‘Common’ in which she explores her dodgy family history, her working class roots and makes you laugh a lot! Tom brings you a new show from his always hilarious, slightly acerbic, totally unique point of view.
