MIND-BOGGLING magic and brilliant puppetry are coming to Dorset this half term as part of the UK-wide Get Creative Family Arts Festival.

Time travelling Victorian magic duo Morgan & West will unload another boxful of bafflement and impossibility in their new family Utterly Spiffing and Spectacular Magic Show for Kids.

Witness a mountain of mysterious magic, a hatful of hyper-reality, and of course a truck full of tricks and tea; sadly there are no actual mountains or trucks on stage during the show, Mr West simply would not have them.

This brilliant magic duo, who were crowned winners of ITV’s Penn & Teller Fool Us, mix brain busting illusion and good old fashioned tom-foolery in a show for all the family, where magic and silliness abound!

See them on October 24 in Bourton (07969 783801), October 25 in Toller Porcorum (01300 320373), October 27 in Piddletrenthide (01300 348247) and November 13 in Chetnole (01935 873555).

Meanwhile, one of Britain’s top companies and Artsreach favourites PuppetCraft bring The Tin Forest to life with visual invention, musical fun and puppetry.

An old man lives in a dreary junkyard, full of other people’s broken and unwanted rubbish. He dreams that one day his life will be full of life, colour and sound, and his wish is about to come true.

This uplifting, humorous and touching show is told without words, and features a sound-scape of live music and sound effects, mechanical birds, a wind-up circus and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes.

Touring on Monday October 24 to Sturminster Newton (01258 475137), Tuesday 25 in Portesham (01305 871925), Wednesday 26 in Morden (01929 459431), Thursday 27 in Broadoak (01308 427418) and Friday 28 in Cerne Abbas (01300 341332). This brilliant show is also preceded with a creative junk art workshop, but places are limited; enquire when booking.

To date the Family Arts Festival has entertained more than 1.7 million family members across the country since its beginnings in 2013.

Now in its forth year, and working with BBC Arts’ Get Creative initiative forming the Get Creative Family Arts Festival, Artsreach are proud to be a partner once again, encouraging families in Dorset to try their hand at a creative activity this October.
