IT’S time to don your best dress and wellies to join the guests at Clare and Arjun’s clash of cultures cowpat wedding reception.

A celebration of a mixed marriage between a country girl and a lad from the city, with all their friends and family – what could possibly go wrong?

My Big Fat Cowpat Wedding is heading to Portesham village hall next week, on Wednesday, October 19 and is based on real experiences of mixed marriages and rural weddings attended by city dwellers out of their comfort zone.

Writer Sayan Kent said: “I wanted the piece to explore the clash of cultures in a white family from the country and an Asian family from the city coming together.

"The best way to do that was through comedy and I hope that amid the laughter and fun, the real issues that concern the characters are ever more poignant.”

This fast moving comedy drama from the award-winning Kali Theatre is full of mishaps and misunderstandings with plenty of neat twists and a disco/Bhangra dance for all to enjoy.

Brought to Dorset by Artsreach, Kerry Bartlett, co-director, said: “The team first saw a taster of this show at the National Rural Touring Conference last year, and just fell in love with the concept and the characters.

"We laughed from start to finish and knew we just had to bring the show to Dorset.”

Expect a fun, light-hearted exploration of relationships across the divides of rural and urban, race and gender.
