A FOLK duo will kick off the Dorchester Arts music season this weekend.

Megson, made up of husband and wife duo Debs and Stu Hanna, will be at the Corn Exchange from 8pm on Saturday.

With Debs on vocals, whistle, piano and accordion and Stu on guitar, mandola and banjo, the pair are three times BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards nominees who draw heavily on their Teesside heritage to create original and contemporary music.

Megson have gained fame on the British folk scene, receiving praise for their arresting and intelligent songwriting as well as their exquisite musicianship and northern humour.

As fRoots Magazine puts it: “If you don’t like the music here then you have a problem."

Megson's latest studio album, Good Times Will Come Again, has received critical acclaim, with Acoustic Magazine highlighting their 'relevant, thought-provoking songs' and folk broadcasting legend Mike Harding describing it as 'One of the top albums of 2016'.
