FAMILIES should look out for some extra special screenings of films for younger audiences at next week's From Page To Screen film festival.

Last year's lavish adaptation of Swallows and Amazons is being shown at the Salt House in West Bay at 2pm on Thursday April 20 - with a bell tent camp of free crafty activities outside on Salthouse Green by the edge of the River Brid and ice creams from Baboo.

The film's screenwriter Andrea Gibb will be at the event to explain how she adapted Arthur Ransome's classic tale of children's holiday adventures in the Lake District.

On Saturday April 22 at 2pm in the Bridport Arts Centre there's a rare chance to see The Incredible Journey on the big screen. It's showing as part of the festival's sixties theme and remains one of Disney's greatest live action family films. It's the unforgettable story of three devoted pets - ageing bull terrier Bodger, spry Labrador Retriever Luath and Siamese cat Tao - making a 250 mile trek to return to their home and owners.

That evening at the Bridport Youth Centre there's a new festival 'fringe' event 'Film Loves Music' with a double bill of great musical movies, the premiere of new B Sharp music videos and an Americana cafe. The youth centre voted for their two all time favourite music-driven films and chose Grease (PG) which will screen at 5pm for all ages and Eminem's life story 8 Mile showing at 8pm for fifteen years plus. Between the two screenings there will be the first chance see the music videos made by local 11-18 year olds using original compositions from the youth music project B Sharp. And to go with the all-American films there will be a diner themed cafe selling milk shakes, popcorn, hot dogs and burgers. Entry to the whole event is just £1.
