A FAMILY film made in west Dorset is now available to buy on DVD and video on demand.

Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? was filmed in and around Freshwater Beach Holiday Park at Burton Bradstock with a local cast and crew.

The movie is a return to the classic British kids’ movies of the past – but brought bang up to date.

It’s the story of four kids on their ‘boring’ summer holiday who suspect the holiday park mascot, Nelson Nutmeg, has been murdered. They set

out to investigate in a story full of comedy, adventure, mystery, gags and good old fashioned slapstick!

Co-writers and co-directors, Tim Clague and Danny Stack, are both from the area and knew Dorset would look amazing on film.

The movie was shot entirely on location in Dorset, and was made by a Bournemouth based company (Nelson Nutmeg Pictures) using local crew AND all local kids in the main roles.

For many of the cast and crew it was their first taste of working on a big screen project. But the film also has a touch of Hollywood glamour as Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley in all the Harry Potter films) came down to Dorset to play the role of Diane, the number one prime suspect!

Bonnie said: “I really responded to the fact that it was a kids’ film for children. The script has the voice of a child coming through, and I remember often on family holidays wandering around, finding things to do, the crazy things that entertain children, and the imaginations that they have!”

The film enjoyed its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, and had a UK cinema tour in 2016. Now, Evolutionary Films who are handling the UK home release, have secured a place for the film on the top streaming websites.

Bournemouth based Tim Clague, a BAFTA-nominated writer and award-winning director, said he is delighted with the response the film has had: “We wanted to bring back British films for British kids. Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? is a contemporary story for today’s children, but it will remind mums and dads of the kind of films they watched as youngsters and hopefully get kids off their tablets and phones and encourage them to have an adventure."

*The film is available on DVD exclusively via ASDA and is out now on the big streaming sites.
