AN arts week has been heralded as a huge success.

Purbeck Arts Week saw an array of art in Rollington Barn and the many artist's open studios attracted visitors from far and wide to the area.

Paintings, sculptures, prints, glass, jewellery, photography and ceramics inspired by the Jurassic Coast, were enjoyed, bought and discussed from Durlston to Sandford and from Bushey to West Lulworth.

The week’s events aimed to inspire and entertain the audience. A performance of Orfeo was a sell-out and young dancers were celebrated for their showcase at Mowlem.

Schools and community groups got involved in the Purbeck Young Artist scheme and community performances and local shops took part in the ‘A Moment in Time’ window display competition.

The excitement may be over for this year but Purbeck Arts Week will return from May 26 to June 10 next year.
