A SUMMER of fun is in store for children and young people.

The Lyric Theatre and Bridport Arts Centre have joined forces again this summer to bring families Jamboree, a packed creative activity programme, keeping ages 2-12 and families entertained over the holidays.

From open-air performances to messy play sessions, puppet making to performing workshops and much more - there’s something for everyone. Come and get your creative juices flowing this summer!

To kickstart the holidays on Monday July 24, storyteller Michele O’Brien brings two stories to tantalise and transport you on great adventures!

Both are at The Lyric Theatre and doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance. BearKat Bistro will be open serving hot and cold drinks, plus delicious cakes and lunches.

At 11am, Michele presents The Spice Box, a 40 minute story suitable for all ages.

A mysterious spice box has been washed up. What is its story? Full of Eastern promise its many drawers hold cinnamon, nutmeg and peppercorns as well as tales of pillaging pirate ships and kidnappings... Stunning puppets tell of the daring voyage to bring back spices at a time when ‘spices were more valuable than gold’.

Then at 3pm Michele’s one-hour story for ages five and up is The Tinderbox. Let Hans Christian Andersen’s age-old story spark the imagination with magic, wonder and life long ago to form the basis of a timeless fairytale.

Tickets per show are £8 adults, £6 children and £25 for a family of 4, available from Bridport Arts Centre - in person Tues-Sat, on the phone: 01308 424204, or online: www.bridport-arts.com. Any remaining tickets will be available on the door, 30 minutes prior to each performance.

On July 31, the next Jamboree event sees Circus Raj and the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band bring a whirlwind of circus and colour to the Millennium Green. For full details of all Jamboree events please visit www.bridport-arts.com or pick up a printed programme in the arts centre or The Lyric.
