A PLAYWRIGHT, actor, screenwriter and poet will be bounding into Dorchester for a day of shows featuring some playful and punchy wit appealing to both young and old.

Murray Lachlan Young will be coming to town on Saturday, October 14, with his two shows, Modern Cautionary Tales for Children in the afternoon and How Freakin’ Zeitgeist are You? An evening with Murray Lachlan Young’ in the evening.

They will be taking place at the Corn Exchange on High East Street and during the afternoon show, Mr Lachlan Young will perform a variety of poetry, stand-up comedy, storytelling, with a touch of panto.

It promises to cover the subjects that fascinate every five to ten year-old the most, including toilets and death.

There will be plenty of audience participation, with the performance aiming to show children that poetry can be fun, though provoking and cool.

The evening show will then give adults the chance to revel in an evening of satirical soliloquy and rock-n-roll reverie and ditty.

On the night Mr Lachlan Young will also be taking a leap into the strange facets of fame, fashion, people, a mildly erotic folk ballad an even the space-time continuum.

Tickets for the two shows are £12 full price and £10 for members of Dorchester Arts, under-18s and those on low income.

They are available from the Dorchester Arts box office on 01305 266926, in person at the Corn Exchange.
