*A POWERFUL gothic tale of suspense will be performed in the evocative setting of Ashton Barn near Martinstown today and tomorrow.

The New Hardy Players invite you to the final two performances of Thomas Hardy's short story The Withered Arm at 7.30pm tonight and 2.30pm tomorrow.

This is the story of a young bride, a wronged woman, a mysterious affliction and a desperate remedy. It has been adapted by Sue Worth, and will be directed by Andrew Munro and Sue Worth.

*CELEBRATE everything spooky with a Hallowe'en Day at Portland Museum today from 10.30am to 4pm.

There will be craft items to make, a spooky trail to complete and if you come dressed up for Hallowe’en you will win a prize! It costs £4 per child and adults go free.

*SEE some jaw-dropping guitar playing from Rodney Branigan at Dorchester Corn Exchange tonight (27) at 8pm.

US-born Rodney relocated to the UK after learning his craft across the pond and has since been stunning audiences around the world with his jaw-dropping guitar skills and delightful song writing ability. Contact Dorchester TIC or Dorchester Arts for tickets.

*A FIRST class musical treat comes to Sydling St Nicholas near Dorchester tonight.

The BSO Resonate Strings are five gifted musicians, each of whom represents one of the five string sections of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. They will perform at the village hall from 7.30pm. Call 01300 341777 for tickets.

*INDULGE in an evening of what Dorset has to offer at Martinstown Village Hall tonight from 7pm to 9pm.

Local small businesses that make or create original and unique handmade items will be showcasing their products at Dorset Indulgence.

*HEAR the sounds of Harlem when the Cotton Club arrives at Weymouth Pavilion tonight.

Swinging at the Cotton Club, featuring music by artists like Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fats Waller, starts at 7.30pm. Call the box office for tickets.

*Bonfire Night comes early tomorrow with a fireworks display over West Bay from 8pm. There will be a bar, hot food, live music and a bonfire from 5.30pm.

The evening is free of charge with any profits going towards the Christmas Tree on Harbour Green and to support local charities and groups working for the benefit of the local community.

*DON'T forget there's two showings of a family musical at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow.

The Wizard of Oz, starring Jen Pringle from Channel 5's Milkshake as Dorothy, will be performed at 2pm and 6pm at Weymouth Pavilion. Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their hearts' desires. *A LITTLE bit of Buenos Aires comes to Dorchester on Sunday when Tango star Martin Alvarado takes to the stage of the Corn Exchange.

His mesmerising voice has been enchanting audiences around the world for 14 years performing his acclaimed repertoire of Piazzolla, classic tangos and South American songs, as well as his own songs.

Also on stage will be two of Argentine tango’s most elegant and artistic dancers, Miriam Orcutt and Dante Culcuy, World Tango Championships finalists in 2015.

Martin's performance starts at 7pm but all ticket holders for the concert can enjoy a free social dance before the show from 3pm to 6pm. Tickets are available from Dorchester TIC or Dorchester Arts.

*BE moved by a Festival of Remembrance at Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday.

This Festival will commemorate all those who have lost their lives in conflicts; and will do that through entertainment and reflection. Among the acts performing are the Decadettes, Bovington Military Wife Choir, Bournemouth Youth Marching band and the Weymouth Concert Brass. The theme for this year's festival is passing the baton of Remembrance from one generation to the next. The festival starts at 5.30pm. Call the box office for tickets.
