A POPULAR Christmas concert will return to town once again.

And this time Weymouth Operatic Society (WOS) has a star in its midst.

Stella Brading was Michael McIntyre’s Unexpected Star of The Show on his Saturday night show Michael McIntyre's Big Show. She will be performing at Weymouth Operatic Society’s Christmas Concert between December 6 and 8 at Hope Church in Trinity Street, Weymouth.

The concerts are held in conjunction with the beautiful Christmas Tree Festival within the harbourside church.

Building on the success and popularity of its yearly Christmas productions, WOS have enlisted the talents of one of their younger members, Shakira Brading, to produce, direct and choreograph this show, ensuring the audience has an eclectic mix of songs from different genres.

Starting with a classical section that includes Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, The Flower Duet and Masquerade (from Phantom of the Opera), this first section will also feature Shakira’s mother, Stella Brading, singing Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro.

Stella performed this aria on BAFTA Award winning Michael McIntyre’s Big Show as the Unexpected Star on the first episode shown on BBC1 on Saturday November 18, watched by nearly seven million people.

The classical section will be followed by a Motown Medley including excerpts from Heard it Through the Grapevine, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Stop in the Name of Love and Please, Mr. Postman to name but a few!

The second half will be another change of scene, with Christmas Songs, carols and a couple of comedy songs and poems thrown in to show how talented and diverse the company is.

Christmas Masquerade will be performed at Hope Church, Weymouth between Wednesday 6th December and Friday 8th December with performances starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for children, to include a glass of mulled wine or soft drink, and can be bought from Londis Harbour Stores next to Hope Church, members of the society or on the door each evening. Early bookings are advisable.
