A YOUTH theatre group is ready to cut loose with a thrilling production.

This month, WOW Youth Musical Theatre will burst back onto the Weymouth stage with their production of Footloose, the musical.

There will be five performances at Weymouth Pavilion from April 11 to 14, including a Saturday matinée.

Based on the 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose features classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Let's Hear It for the Boy as well as the exuberant title track. There will also be some quieter moments with ballads, such as the romantic duet Almost Paradise, give Footloose an eclectic blend of music, dance and romance.

WOW president Janet Stockley said: “This has been such a good choice of show for WOW, with its teenage characters and great lively musical score with several well-known songs. All set with Martine Burt's amazing, award-winning choreography' the show is looking like a winner which will suit all ages and make an excellent trip to the theatre during the Easter holidays."

The outstanding quality of Martine's work directing and choreographing for WOW has just been recognised again with her 2017 WOW Show winning Best Compilation in the South West region.

Musical director Heather Reed has spent many hours of rehearsal teaching the cast some intricate harmonies which sound amazing. There will be a sextet in the orchestra pit, conducted by Lee Redwood, giving support to the cast. WOW also has army parents and volunteers, to make sure everything runs smoothly backstage.
