WEYMOUTH Music Club is hosting a short, informal recital by young singer Georgina Malcolm (soprano) accompanied by Duncan Honeybourne on the piano tonight (21) as part of its Members and Friends Night.

The recital will follow the club's very short meeting at 7.30pm and the recital is at 7.45pm for 8pm start.

Georgina will be singing Schumann's great song-cycle Frauenliebe und Leben (A woman's life and love) complemented by songs by Schubert and Strauss.

Since graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2016, Georgie has been living and working in Oxford, with a full-time job in publishing, but maintains a busy schedule of singing engagements alongside this, with a mind to the possibility of pursuing music professionally in the future. She studies singing with Christine Cairns.

Recent performances include singing the soprano solos in Mozart’s ‘vesperae solemnes de confessore’ in Wilton, the solo in Vaughan-Williams’ ‘In Windsor Forest’ at the English Music Festival in Dorchester, Oxfordshire, and arias by Mozart and Puccini in a concert of opera given by the Oxford Millennium Orchestra in the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford.

Weymouth Music Club's Members and Friends night is traditionally a platform for young musicians and Duncan gave his first Weymouth Music Club recital at one of these
