A CONTEMPORARY art exhibition in the museum gallery of Brewers Quay has received a fantastic reception as part of Dorset Art Weeks.

Having had more than 2,000 visitors so far, South West Art Work have extended their exhibition for another two weeks until Friday, June 20.

Visitors can expect a spectacular fusion of contemporary art and performance from a varied group of young emerging artists who are keen to display their fresh vision in various mediums including graphic art and furniture design, sound and video installations, textile art work, sculpture as well as site-specific performance art.

Located in the hub of Hope Square, within Brewers Quay, this exhibition promises to delight art lovers and novices alike with a wealth of talent complimentarily placed within the industrial workings of the old brewery. Industrial engine enthusiasts will also enjoy viewing the old engine room, which is kept in perfect working order to this day.

South West Art Work was set up three years ago to offer recent graduates of art and design a chance to exhibit their work within their hometown instead of having to travel to city areas in order to establish themselves.

Co-founders Ed Jones and Laura Mulhern are dedicated to promoting contemporary art in the South West as they themselves are emerging artists who are juggling part-time work as well as personal art exploration.

Both have graduated from an arts-based degree from various institutions around Britain, but have remained in their home town of Weymouth and Portland since and are keen to become established in their local area.

Having successfully produced previous exhibitions in exciting and sometimes challenging venues such as St Peter's Church on Portland SWA are delighted to have such a welcome response to the work exhibited this year. Visit: southwest-artwork.co.uk to meet all artists exhibiting.
