AS the Mini celebrates 50 years of popularity, the Jurassic Coast Mini Club is preparing to celebrate in style.

The 2009 Mouth 2 Mouth run takes place on September 20 and club members are hoping as many Mini enthusiasts as possible will take part to make it a record year.

The Mouth 2 Mouth is a day’s drive from Weymouth to Exmouth and back to raise funds for local charities.

Club spokeswoman Jayne Simmons said: “We are hoping for a bigger turnout this year and would love to see 100 minis take part and raise £500 for Weymouth Lifeboat.

“This is our goal and as 2009 is the 50th anniversary of our favourite little car then it would be fantastic to realise this ambition.”

Jurassic Coast Mini Club is a newly formed organisation made up of people who love and drive the Mini.

The Mouth 2 Mouth, which ran for the first time two years ago, was originally for club members only but is now open to other Mini enthusiasts.

It starts from the Riviera Hotel at Bowleaze Cove, near Weymouth, and then heads west, with cars stopping for a break at Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary before heading on to Exmouth for a barbecue and a Mini parade along the seafront.

Jayne said: “As a club we enjoy many of the popular mini events throughout the year such as the London to Brighton and Riviera Run so we really wanted to have our own club run too and so the Mouth 2 Mouth was born.

“The run was originally just for club members and saw us drive from Weymouth to Sidmouth. There were only 7 cars but we all enjoyed the experience of driving in convoy and a nice day out by the sea and decided that this would be a good basis for a charity run which we could call our own.

“We were delighted to secure sponsorship from The Riviera Hotel and will always be immensely grateful to Ralph and Liz Nubeebuckus for their support.”

The cost of the event is £6 per person, of which £5 goes straight to the lifeboat.

The closing date for Mouth to Mouth entrants is Friday, July 31. For further details call 01929 401501 or visit jurassiccoastminis.co.uk
