Punk band The Damned, whose hits include the legendary Neat, Neat, Neat, are the headliners at this year’s Endorse it in Dorset festival. Other bands on the ‘old school’ line-up include Subhumans and Vice Squad, Pauline Black from The Selecter, ska-punks Spunge, indie crossover kings Credit to the Nation, roots reggae band Rhythm-ites and other favourites.
Pronghorn will be back, as will Eat Static, N.U.M.B., Subgiant, Urban Voodoo Machine and The Highliners.
Following last year’s sell-out, the organisers have increased the number of tickets to 3,500, but have kept the intimate atmosphere.
Taking place from Friday to Sunday, August 6 to 8, near Sixpenny Handley, there will be more than 70 bands across three weather-proof stages.
Ticket prices have been held as low as possible to make this an affordable festival for the whole family.
Scrumpy Sunday is a day dedicated to the celebration of the apple nectar, with entertainment provided by the West Country’s finest twangers in Who’s Afear’d, The Boot Hill All Stars and Surfin’ Turnips.
Completing the live music is strong local talent, including Dorset Music Award Winners Achilles, Glastonbury performers Citystereo, Middlenamekill and Robb Blake, Bournemouth’s The Metropolise and Kentucky Fight Club and Southampton’s finest in The Mopes, The Inklings and The Flying Alexanders.
Music continues until the small hours courtesy of the festival DJs, including DJ Scratchy from The Clash, Randy & Earls Old Record Club and DJ Dapper Dan & The Macassa Man (otherwise known as Wimborne’s town crier). The young musician’s charity, Strummerville, also makes a welcome return with bands performing against the warming backdrop of the festival campfire.
Festival organiser Iain Laing said: “Endorse it in Dorset is a family-friendly festival, recommended by safeconcerts.com, with a special camping area for families situated away from the main festival site.”
Endorse it supports many local groups and is one of the largest benefactors of the local Scout group. Tickets for Endorse it in Dorset cost £70 (over 16), £38 (11-16) and £10 for the under-10s, although the first 200 of these tickets will be sold for just £2. A family tickets for two adults and two children costs £210, a camper van weekend supplement is £22 and car parking costs £5 per vehicle.
