LEGENDARY musicians and a world-beating tribute act are part of the Electric Palace’s Easter weekend treat.
Events get off to a rousing start on Thursday, April 1, with UK Pink Floyd, formerly The Great Gig in the Sky.
Nine musicians come together to recreate the UK’s ultimate and most authentic Pink Floyd show, featuring previously unseen footage and using state of the art sound and visuals.
Covering the highlights of the band’s amazing 40-year career, the show features the classic album Dark Side Of The Moon played in its entirety and featuring the incredible voice of local singer Jess Upton.
Jess said: “We first performed about 15 years ago at Weymouth Pavilion.
“We were all really big fans of the band, with most of us having seen them at some point. It started as something that we just all really wanted to do for fun, and then we thought why not make a show out of it? We’ve been gigging pretty much non-stop since then – all over the UK and over to Europe as well.
“We’ve played the Electric Palace for three years running now and it’s such a brilliant venue for the show. We’ve been looking forward to it all year.”
Then on Good Friday, April 2, the singer Hazel O’Connor returns for her second gig at the Palace with her brand new show with the Bluja Project featuring Clare Hirst on saxophone and Sarah Fisher on piano.
Hazel made her name in the 1980s when she toured with Duran Duran and then went on to star in the movie Breaking Glass, the soundtrack for which included the songs Will You and Eighth Day.
She first worked with Clare Hirst, who is best known for her work with David Bowie, the Bellestars and the Communards, on their sell-out Sing Out Sister show at Riverside Studios in London.
Sarah Fisher has worked with The Eurythmics and Sax In The City.
Blujah’s superb blend of the three voices adds a sweet touch of class to their vibrant performance.
