A LIVELY pantomime based on a gory French folk tale comes to life this week in Preston near Weymouth.
Bluebeard, which was written in the 17th century, is dedicated to the memory of former Preston panto director and star Roxane Moss, who died last October.
Roxane was a leading light of the village panto group and ran the Preston Panto Kids (PPK) group. As a tribute, the youngsters will all be taking part in this week’s show.
Bluebeard director Trish Dunford said: “Roxane was the leading light of the PPK and after she died we thought there was a danger that the club would fold so we stepped in to run it. But we had to find something for the kids to do so we get them involved in the pantomime.”
Andy Nineham, who usually plays the Preston Dame, is this year playing Bluebeard while Chris Cole dons drag as Ruby Rockbottom. Other cast members include Jenny Seys, Christine Galpin, Barry Barnes and Darin Hall.
This is the third panto directed by Trish, who usually directs the village plays.
Bluebeard is at Preston Village Hall near Weymouth from tonight until Saturday with performances at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are £5 plus concessions for primary school children and they are available by calling 01305 834410.
