Civil war re-enactment in Lulworth
THERE will be no surrender at Lulworth Castle when the Sir Thomas Tyldesley Regiment of Foote and hundreds of members of the English Civil War Society re-create life during the Civil War on Sunday and Monday, May 4 and 5.
The society are here to bring the turbulent history of the 17th century to life and offer the opportunity to witness amazing re-enactments of military and civilian life from the days of the English Civil War. See them in action with Big Gun firing displays, artillery demonstrations under the control of the officers on the field of drill and a full-scale battle each day.
Throughout the event, the Living History encampment will give you an insight into how soldiers and their families lived while out on campaign. You are likely to see guns and weapons on display, musket ball making, mending armour, cooking and other crafts and skills, being demonstrated.
Gates open at 10.30am and the days run until 6pm. There will be drills and displays throughout the day with the full-scale battle at around 4pm. Tickets are £8 plus concessions and children under four go free. The event is included in the normal admission price to Lulworth Castle and all its attractions.
