Exhibition is full of variety
A CONTEMPORARY exhibition inspired by Bridport artist Fra Newbery, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow School can be seen at Sladers Yard, West Bay, until Sunday, May 11.
Fra Newbery, who is being celebrated across Dorset in the Newbery Trail, brought together fine and applied art.
He emphasised the importance of craftsmanship in any art and taught his students at Glasgow to perfect their technique in whatever media they chose.
The exhibition includes three John Makepeace chairs, two Petter Southall chairs, one-off ceramics by Peter Swanson, pleated silks and velvets by Nawal Gebreel, this country's foremost pleater.
The gallery is open 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday, 11am to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays. Telephone 01308 459511 for full details or log on to sladersyard.co.uk
