Stunning scenes for opera lovers

ELLEN Kent returns to Bournemouth this weekend with two stunning operatic shows.

Tomorrow night, her company will present Madame Butterfly, Puccini's tragic tale of a geisha and her faithless lover Pinkerton, and on Sunday, it is the turn of La Traviata, Verdi's tale of love, loss and death.

Both shows are staged at 7.30pm in Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre and tickets are available by calling 0870 111 3000.

If you want to be uplifted this weekend, Christchurch is the place to be when the London Community Gospel Choir takes up residence in the Regent Centre tonight.

The ensemble are Europe's premier gospel choir and they have performed with Elton John, Eric Clapton, Beverley Knight and many more global stars. They are promising an uplifting, energetic, spirit filled evening of entertainment.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £15.50 plus concessions.

A tale of music and farming set in 1950s Britain is staged at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis tonight.

Mickey Salberg's Crystal Ballroom Dance Band, performed by Windmill Theatre, is a lovely vibrant piece of musical drama that focuses on an era when life was changing out of all recognition. Young dancers are also in for a real treat which weekend when Angelina's Star Performance pirouettes into the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil.

The show is a gorgeously costumed, enchanting adaptation of the much-loved children's books about the feisty little mouseling who dreams of being a prima ballerina.

You can see Angelina's Star Performance at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil at noon, 3pm and 6pm tomorrow. Tickets are £17 plus concessions from the box office on 01935 422884.
