Finding a caravan holiday park with that magical element of escapism isn't as easy as it sounds.

But Haven Holidays have lucked in with their picture-perfect Devon Cliffs spot.

Nestled in Exmouth, the park offers everything you and your family need to forget the rat-run whether it be for a three-day weekend break or a longer mid-week stay.

Our three-bed prestige caravan was modern and homely and came equipped with all the mod-cons needed for a comfortable stay including freeview TV and a DVD player.

It would comfortably sleep six people and the views from our veranda were simply fantastic - something you could never tire of.

The facilities on-site prove that Haven have family embedded firmly in their ethos. There are a number of outdoor adventure areas dotted around the park to keep the little ones entertained, including a fantastic sand and water tunnel play area near to the beach and opposite the very contemporary South Beach Café.

A must first stop is the beautiful beach cove below known as Sandy Bay. It is situated down a short steep hill from the park but offers beautiful views and a perfect place for the youngsters to play safely.

Another must on the list is the multi-level swimming complex.

It was very busy when we visited but was big enough to cater for all ages and abilities.

There are number of slides there – small ones for the youngsters and a four-lane slide for the bigger kids in the party.

There are also fun water shoots, a sloped pool for beginners and deeper end for those practicing their strokes.

There is also an outdoor pool for the warmer months.

At night the centre of the park comes alive. There are two bars providing evening entertainment.

We ventured into Bugsys where a group of entertainers were on hand to keep the children busy while the adults watched on over a pint or glass of wine.

The other venue, Capones provides music and bingo entertainment each night of the week.

Both bars are connected to a bustling fun factory which hosts a huge range of arcade games and machines together with a soft play zone for the younger guests.

All the staff on site were amazingly helpful - from checking in to service in the bars and restaurants.

And even though the park was packed with families enjoying the good weather, it was still nice and quiet in the evenings so the little ones were not disturbed.

There are a number of eateries at Devon Cliffs including the South Beach Cafe, Mash and Barrel and takeaways. The Spar shop is also perfect for picking up those forgotten items.

Outside the park, east Devon is also a great place for exploring with a wide range of attractions including Crealy adventure park.
