In voicing his opinion that the last cabinet reshuffle was tokenism, Richard Drax has only stated the blindingly obvious.
The Prime Minister had been under pressure for some time due to the perceived cabinet imbalance (predominately white males from privileged back grounds) and was desperately trying to partially fix this before the next general election.
The local politicians knee-jerked their predictable right-on-message responses with various degrees of ineptitude and, in the case of Councillor Francis Drake (Council’s spokesman for Social Inclusion), entertaining naivety.
Richard Drax is an MP who has proved in the past that he is not afraid to voice an opinion that may not necessarily chime with his party’s leaders and, in my opinion, we could do with a few more MPs like this.
