THE steam tours into Weymouth have been going for several years now, but the snag is having to send the steam all the way to Yeovil for turning, water and coal.
I remember your reporter Martin Lea alerting readers about West Country planning a turntable based here in Weymouth. Why not?
Just in front of Weymouth station a car park was earmarked for this, with plenty of viewing space, or just up the line Wool station has plenty of space.
I hope in future the organisers don’t get frustrated if a steam tour does run arrive late then fans will have to put up with diesel loco leading out of Weymouth instead of steam which families and children love watching and helps with the local economy. So come on, make this work.
