On Tuesday, October 28, we phoned the number given in the Dorset Waste Partnership booklet to report our food waste bins (ours and three other residents of the close) had not been collected on Monday.

I was told by the person who answered the call ‘they will be collected in the next two or three days’.

On Saturday, November 1, they were still there. On that Saturday I was walking my dog along Puddledock Lane at 8.05am.

I saw a green and white waste collection vehicle driving slowly up Puddledock, there were two operatives in the vehicle.

I watched, hopefully, as it reached the junction of Millers Close/Puddledock, and they stopped at that junction, looking up the close. They were stopped for about a minute, then moved forward and began to reverse as if going up the drive, when to my amazement, and anger, they drove off leaving the bins still uncollected.

I can only suppose this was a ‘hired’ waste vehicle driven by agency operatives.

I would add that I have found council operatives helpful.
