I NOW feel through the pages of your newspaper that I must write about the volume of traffic through Wyke Regis to Portland and back. Since the horrendous accident last week involving a lollipop lady and three young children, something need to be done to ease the situation.

Portland now is a fast growing community and one road in and out is just not enough to cope.

My daughter walks my grandchildren to the local schools and has said she feels safer driving the quarter of a mile than walking as the amount of articulated lorries makes the whole road shudder and vibrate and frankly is quite scary.

I have heard rumours that the powers that be maybe, just maybe, thinking about the situation, but it has now become so bad that I think there will be more accidents, maybe even a fatality in the area.

There are upwards of about 2,000 children using this road at any one time and I as a grandmother appeal to the council to start thinking again about another route to Portland.
