AFTER all the warnings about the increased traffic in Weymouth during the Sailing Olympics I thought I would investigate the Park and Ride operation so that if necessary I could get to Dorchester, and avoid predicted congestion when LOCOG battens down the hatches in Weymouth.

Last Saturday I drove into the Park and Ride with the intention of going to Dorchester...it’s not on, there is no service on Saturday!

Having failed miserably, I caught a bus into Weymouth, and picked up a leaflet at the TIC.

A very informative sentence tells me, ‘A service also operates to Dorchester town centre – Monday to Friday’.

No information on the frequency, or when the service starts or stops, except that there is no service on December 25, 26, or January 1.

The final bit of information is: ‘The cost of parking increases marginally up to £3.50 for the summer, from £1.50, – but this still great value!’ Now I know that there is some concern about our standard of education but to me this is a new meaning of the word marginally! Come on, Dorset County Council, let’s have a decent leaflet.
